Angel 11

This project had everything I needed in equal proportions of intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical. It was perfectly balanced for full creative contentment. I just prayed during construction that the finished piece would be balanced also. (lol)

It started with the discovery of some pale blue glass globs that I had left over from my glassing days. Eleven of them to be exact. What to do? I remembered seeing pics of glass globs embedded into drift wood… very pretty when the light shines through. So, I thought I would try that with concrete… for the garden.

I designed a vertical column 20″ tall, thin and narrow with the eleven globs in straight line. That means a high center of gravity which explains my concerns over balance.

As I was naming this piece, I researched online for some relevant context and discovered the reference to Angel 11.

Suffice it to say, when I found those eleven little glass globs, it was a sign. They connected my past and my future. They inspired me to learn. They showed me I’m on the right path forward.
